Enso represents the way of Zen as a circle of emptiness and form, void and fullness.
The enso circle is born from emptiness. However its center is full of potency and infinite possibility. One dip of ink, one fluid brush stroke, I experience the profound changes and limitless possibilities. As the brush trails off into nothingness, leaving an open circle, it is also the acceptance of imperfection as it is.
Inside the ink circle is my calligraphy for the Chinese word "enlightenment" /Japanese kanji for satori

The two sides of me... My sumi paintings are essentially monochromatic. I find boundless freedom in expressing myself through different shades of black, white and grey. I love to use minimal strokes capturing the essence while leaving enough white space for the viewer's imagination. That stems from the Taoist thinking - sometimes not doing anything is action in itself. Unlike my Chinese ink paintings, I fill the canvas with so much color that it might be suffocating for you but I am having so much fun I just want...

I'll try copying this. I do love calligraphy and I studied it for a time when I studied Chinese brush painting. Beautiful work, Oiyee! F/L
