I have painted this Dragon Sumi-e for babies born in the Year of the Dragon in 2024.
I have seen many dragon paintings and drawings, but most of them look too fierce. So I came up with one big happy dragon which is perfect for the nurseries of "dragon babies".
Instead of painting the body the regular way, I have written the Chinese word "dragon" at the bottom as the body. You will notice that the Chinese word is a pictorial one evolving from oracle script, and you can see roughly the dragon claws at the left, dragon back and tail on the right.
